Recently the Spanish Congress approved the so called Startups Law. Some of the provisions contained in the new regulations have been focused on attracting foreign talent and more specifically on attracting the so-called “digital nomads” or international teleworkers.

In this sense, foreigners not residing in Spain who intend to reside in Spanish territory in order to telework remotely for a company not located in Spain, may apply for an international telework visa.

Those foreigners, who are in Spain regularly or who have accessed through the aforementioned visa, may request a residence authorization in order to telework remotely for a company located abroad, which will be valid throughout the national territory. .

Once the Startups Bill has been approved by the Congress, this text must be approved by the Senate for its full entry into force, which is expected to take place during the first half of 2023.
